Shortly after the release of the T-Mobile G1, some users were receiving Android firmware update RC28. Google put the breaks on the release of RC28, so they could include a security flaw that was uncovered. Firmware update RC29 corrected the flaw and some users had started to receive the OTA update last week. Some folks have yet to receive either RC28 or RC29, leaving them with RC19 which shipped. Is there is delay with RC29 or is Google working on yet another update?
Right now, there are G1 users with the following firmware builds: RC 19, RC28 and RC29. So, which is which? RC19 appears to be the original build that shipped with the T-Mobile G1. Google updated to RC28 and had started to deliver OTA updates to a few early adopters.
It appears that Google put the breaks on the release of RC28 in order to fix the security flaw we talked abut a few days back. The resulting firmware is RC29 and some G1 owners have started to receive that update. T-Mobile reportedly hopes to have everyone on RC9 by November 12th. What version are you running?
