Unlocked HTC G1's are reportedly flying off the shelves in China. With Apple unable to reach an agreement to bring the iPhone to China, HTC looks to make the Android based G1 official in Asia-Pacific markets as early as the first half of 2009.

On October 22nd, the HTC G1 will be the first Android powered gPhone and there has been tremendous excitement surrounding the release. Looking to join the fray, Motorola has reportedly expanded their Android development team from 50 to 350. It's clear that Motorola is thinking Android is a game changer.

Up until now, Motorola's Q series has run Windows Mobile Standard (non-touchscreen). Motorola certainly views Android as an opportunity to get their hardware into more hands. The Android OS has been seen by many as a legitimate competitor to Apple's iPhone.

Looks like someone jumped the gun over at T-Mobile, with  the G1 find it's way to the my.t-mobile.com customer portal. This could be further evidence that the Dream will actually be called the G1. 'G' being short for Google phone and also allowing for more G phones down the line.

Not sure where this photo originates, but it is believed to be the first spotting of the HTC G1 (aka Dream) in the wild. T-Mobile is expected to make the G1 official on Tuesday ushering in the first of many gPhones. Stay tuned to everything gPhone for full Android coverage. Rumored SKU listings have cropped up showing the forthcoming T-Mobile G1 or HTC Dream coming in three colors. According the leak, it will come in brown, black and white. We've seen the white in spy shots, so this certainly sounds plausible and TmoNews has been known to get good intel.

Mockups of the much anticipated gPhone or G1 I should say from T-Mobile surfaced on the web. The design features a pull out QWERTY keyboard and a tilt at the bottom of the handset. The G1 will represent the first Android phone and proudly displays, "with Google" on the back of the device.
