On October 22nd, the HTC G1 will be the first Android powered gPhone and there has been tremendous excitement surrounding the release. Looking to join the fray, Motorola has reportedly expanded their Android development team from 50 to 350. It's clear that Motorola is thinking Android is a game changer.

Up until now, Motorola's Q series has run Windows Mobile Standard (non-touchscreen). Motorola certainly views Android as an opportunity to get their hardware into more hands. The Android OS has been seen by many as a legitimate competitor to Apple's iPhone.
