The T-Mobile G1 doesn't support flash yet. The key word here is 'yet'. At Adobe's MAX event, Andy Rubin helped demo flash running on the G1. There has been an ongoing battle of sorts between Apple and Adobe over flash for the iPhone. To date, Apple or should I say Steve Jobs will not allow Flash on the iPhone. Here's where the open-source goodness of Android and the G1 pound their collective chests. UPDATE: Video demo after the break.
PhoneFusion has announced they will be bringing visual voicemail to the T-Mobile G1 with their new application Fusion Voicemail Plus.
The T-Mobile G1 represents the first ever device that is powered by Google's Android operating system. Priced at $179.99, it combines a touch screen, hard buttons ,slide-out QWERTY keyboard, GPS, 3.2 megapixel camera and WiFi. So, how does the world's first Google phone stack up? I've spent the last few weeks testing the G1, so I'd be able to offer a comprehensive look at T-Mobile's G1 and for that matter the Android OS. Let's get started.
Yesterday, a Google executive spoke about the Android Market saying that the average G1 user has downloaded 14 applications of the now 200 available. Eric Chu, group marketing manager for the Android Mobile Platform, went on to say that the Android Marketplace is the "killer app" of the platform. Developers will be able to start charging for apps in the first quarter of 2009. The revenue will break 70/30. Of the 30 percent, Google will retain a small portion to cover credit card transaction costs and the remainder goes to the carrier. Perhaps this is what Ballmer was saying when he questioned the revenue model for Android.

Steve Ballmer has a flair for making outlandish statements about potential competitors and today he took a jab at Google's Android OS. Speaking at a Telstra conference in Australia, Ballmer said, "They can hire smart guys, hire a lot of people, blah dee blah dee blah, but you know they start out way behind in a certain sense."
"I don't really understand their strategy. Maybe somebody else does. If I went to my shareholder meeting, my analyst meeting and said, hey, we've just launched a new product that has no revenue model!"
Just last week, Sprint CEO was quoted as saying Android in it's current form is "not good enough to put the Sprint brand on". This started a firestorm on the tech blogs. Sprint contacted Everything gPhone to clarify Hesse's comments.
"As with any single comment from a speech, it’s important to understand the context. Rather than criticize Google, Sprint is a partner with Google (it’s the default search provider on Sprint phones) and we are a very strong supporter of the Android community as a charter member of the Open Handset Alliance. We are interested in developing an Android-based handset, but we would want to make sure it fully leverages all of the advances of Sprint’s current handsets and the data strength of our wireless network. We have a unique approach to making data use easy, intuitive and simply priced. I think what Dan meant is that, only when we are certain we have fully leveraged all the advantages of Android with the advantages we’re known for, that’s when we’d introduce our Android handset."

Unlocked HTC G1's are reportedly flying off the shelves in China. With Apple unable to reach an agreement to bring the iPhone to China, HTC looks to make the Android based G1 official in Asia-Pacific markets as early as the first half of 2009.

It's not secret that the T-Mobile G1 will come in white, but what about the release date? At launch, the G1 was available in bronze or black. It appears that T-Mobile 'might' release the white G1 on Black Friday, as they make a final push for holiday sales. The white G1 has shown up in T-Mobile's Streamline database.
Shortly after the release of the T-Mobile G1, some users were receiving Android firmware update RC28. Google put the breaks on the release of RC28, so they could include a security flaw that was uncovered. Firmware update RC29 corrected the flaw and some users had started to receive the OTA update last week. Some folks have yet to receive either RC28 or RC29, leaving them with RC19 which shipped. Is there is delay with RC29 or is Google working on yet another update?
